The Return.

Hi everybody, I’m back and I’d like to thank all those that left such nice comments to my last entry from the old address.

We moved in on the weekend of the 21st and everything went smoothly-ish. The only problem really being that we haven’t got room at the moment for all the stuff Niki has in her studio, but we’re going to be working on that. The house is a bit of a mess at the moment because we’re still in the process of unpacking and sorting out where everything is going, but we have the kitchen sorted so we can cook (a bit) and make coffee, the bedroom is sorted enough for us to sleep and know where our clothes are, and the living room is sorted out enough for us to watch TV and use the computer and sit down comfortably, so it’s not going too bad really.

Unfortunately I went on a bit of a downer after we’d been here for a couple of days and it all basically comes down to fear and links to my feelings of inadequacy and the screw ups I’m made in the past (at least it seems to be mainly all of that), I’m not totally out of it yet but I’m trying not to let it take over. I hate the fact that me being down makes Niki feel bad, I don’t like bringing her down and when I do it makes me feel worse because it feeds into my already problematic feelings of guilt. My ear infection is better but still not gone which is an annoyance. But apart from all that I’m fine.

First Contact.

Now here’s a strange thing, I don’t know why exactly but the first two sites I visited when we were back on line were I Am Bored and Yahoo Answers, now I don’t know if some of the analysts out there in blog-land can read anything into that but I’m a bit puzzled by it. Anyway I thought I’d just put in a couple of links to video clips on I Am Bored that I found funny. I also thought I’d share with you two of the answers I left on Yahoo Answers that surprised me by their depth, feeling and meaning even though I’d written them.

In answer to the question: “Are you an optimist or a pessimist?” I wrote this:-

This is a bit complicated but sometimes I'm optimistically pessimistic (which means I look forward to everything going wrong), sometimes I'm pessimistically pessimistic (which means I don't look forward to everything going wrong but I know it will anyway), sometimes I'm pessimistically optimistic (which means that I don't look forward to everything going right but I know that it will just to annoy me), and sometimes I'm optimistically optimistic (which means I'm a complete pain and don't stop grinning at everyone).

In answer to the question: “What is the meaning of life? Why are we here?” I wrote this:-

'Life' as a thing separate from the person living it has no real meaning, it is the living of life that gives it meaning. It's not the thing that means anything it's what you do with it that defines it's meaning to you, and that meaning can be (and I believe should be) completely different for every single person alive.

Writing.

Niki and I signed up for a novel writing thing yesterday which is a bit weird and a little scary for me. You have one month (from the 1st to the 30th of November) to write a novel from scratch. Other Stuff.

We went to see both of the bands Jay’s in (A13 and Black Tooth) at The Cherry Tree pub in Dagenham last Friday, it was nice to go out and see live bands (although I must say I think A13 are 100 times better that Black Tooth) but the only real problems I had was firstly the fact that it was very smokey and I’m just not used to that, and secondly the fact that my ear infection meant that certain notes that the bands played made it sound and feel to me like I had a small hand grenade going off inside my left ear, which was fun. The only other problem was coming home in the early hours of the morning through the centre of Romford, still I did catch up with a couple of people that I haven’t seen for years which was nice.

I’m of to see Lordi with Scott tomorrow night, I’m not sure exactly what that will be like but I’m game.

Anyway, I think that’s about all I can think of to write at the moment so I’m off, see y’all.

This going to be a fairly quick and short blog entry just to let everyone know that Niki and I are moving this weekend and so this will be my last entry at my current address. Hopefully it won't be too long before we have the internet conection up and running at the new place and I'll be able to start blogging again.

I'm kind of happy about moving but somewhat sad as well, I'm not a big fan of change and chages on this kind of level really stress me out. Plus I worry about Niki who also gets really stressed out about it and in turn worries about me. I'm also a bit sad about the fact that Old Niq is going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment and I'm so caught up in all this stuff that I haven't been able to talk to him and make sure he's alright as much as I'd like to, I have been in touch with him via e-mail and he's ok, but it just doesn't feel like I'm being as supportive to him as he's been to me over the last couple of years.

Anyway, hopefully I'll be back soon, until then I hope all my friends keep well and everyone in blogland is alright.

Well, I'm not sure if my ear is actually getting any better or I'm just getting more used to it, it's still clogged up and is a pain, but it doesn't feel quite as bad as it did a week ago. However I am seriously considering Big Chris's offer of using his drill to clear it if it goes on much longer. I'd like it to have cleared up before I have to change doctors when we move. The doctor gave me some different anti-biotics and said they would clear it up, which made me wonder why he hadn't just given them to me in the first place but there you go, I'm going back to see him again next week to see if they've worked.

The move is progressing more or less as planned, and I picked up the keys to the new place yesterday. Here is a picture of the house we'll be moving to in Romford in a few weeks:-

As I said it does need some work on it but it's nothing major and hopefully won't take either too much time or money to get done.

One thing that this moving and packing thing has done is bring to light some stuff that I haven't really looked at for the last few years (or longer in some cases), among these are a load of video tapes many of which I haven't watched for a good while. On these I have found some gems from my past including a badly edited video of Klicketty Elephant playing live at a bikers party in Upminster; lots of bits off The Max Headroom Show; a TV show by Pookiesnackenburger (a collective of buskers one of whom went on to help form Stomp) about black metal band Iron Lung called 'Hell Bent'; a great song by the Muppets called 'One Way' ; episodes of a rock music TV show that used to be on channel 4 called 'ECT' (I think) including performances by Robin George, Tygers Of Pantang, Waysted, Girlschool, Wildfire, Spider, and Gary Moore & Phil Lynott, plus others; and many other bits and pices far too numerous to mention here.

Doing the packing I have also found some old pictures and documents that I haven't seen for years, like these two, the first is my Baptism Certificate (I didn't know I'd been baptised until my Mum gave me this years ago) and the second is a certificate I got as a prize for growing flowers (as far as I can work out I was probably about 4 at the time):-

To bring things back up to date, Niki has been a bit stressed and very tired this week because she's doing a huge craft show at Ally Pally. It amazed me just how much stuff there was there, the only thing that annoyed me was that there were quite a few larger, large breasted, attractive women there and I couldn't flirt with any of them because they all seem to know her by name (it's just not fair).

And so, to end on a light and cheery note, my daughter Becca called me on Wednesday this week to tell me that she is pregnant and the baby is due next June. I'm really happy for both her and Jay, I do have some reservations about the whole thing but hey, it was never in my power to do anything about it and it's too late now anyway, and if it's what they really want then I'm happy for them.

So, this damned ear infection thing is still going on. It has now progressed to the point that I feel almost like I've got a bad cold and almost all I can hear in my left ear is the blood pumping, which is fun. I've got another three days left of the anti-biotics that the doctor gave me so I'm going to phone tomorrow to make an appointment for Tuesday night. This thing is really getting down because now I can't listen to music properly because it all sounds distorted and odd. Niki said that it might be that the virus is going through it's last throws which is why it's turned into cold like symptoms, I don't know but she's had more ear infections than I have so maybe she's right, we'll see.

I had a pretty down day yesterday, not only did I have to put up with this ear thing, but I also found whilst surfing the net a family tree web site that my sister Judy has posted some stuff on about her research into our family tree, this includes some photos of my family that I haven't seen for years. Also on the site was her e-mail address, after much internal debate I e-mailed her, I have no doubt that I will either not recieve a reply or if I do it will pretty much say that she doesn't want to know me but I live in hope. I know that the reason she doesn't want to know me is in reality my fault. I acted on something far too quickly and emotionally and in doing so caused a massive, and seemingly unrepareable rift between us, but having met her at my brothers daughters birthday party a couple of years ago we agreed to put it behind us. I know that if I had thought about what I was doing a bit more, stepped back from it all for a moment and really thought it through, then I would never have done it, but then again I also know that there is little I can do about having done it now, I have appologised to her and there is really nothing more I can do, but that doesn't make me feel any better about the situation. It's just another thing I've done wrong in my life.
